Dental License in North Carolina for Foreign Trained Dentists

Education Requirements:

Graduates of foreign trained dentists are accepted to apply for a North Carolina dental license after they successfully complete a minimum of two years in a dental school accredited by CODA, and graduate with a DDS or DMD degree from that dental school.

Examinations Requirements:

Applicants for the dental license should pass all board approved written and clinical examinations:

NBDE parts I & II
Infection Control / Sterilization
North Carolina Jurisprudence
CITA Dental Exam (Council of Interstate Testing Agencies)

Materials to be submitted with the application (you can download the application from this page):

- Fee: $395
- NBDE scores
- Transcripts from all undergrad schools attended (photocopies ok)
- Official dental school transcripts in a sealed school envelop or sent directly from school
- One passport-size photo glued to the appropriate space on the application
- A signed release form, completed Fingerprint Record Card and other such forms required to perform a criminal history check
